Comet Elenin closest to Earth on October 16, 2011

Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is a long-period comet discovered by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010. It approaches earth every 11,100 years. On September 25, 2011 it will lie between the Sun and Earth. Around Oct 29, 2011 Earth will pass through the tail.
